The forensic investigation—psychology minor introduces students to application of the behavioral sciences to the law. Students who take this minor generally major in psychology or criminal justice.

This minor is useful for several career paths. For those pursuing a criminal justice career, the understanding of abnormal psychology, interviewing, and forensic psychology is useful in jails, investigation, and criminal law.

Those aiming for a career in psychology may need a graduate degree depending on their career choice. A Forensic Psychiatrist is a medical doctor with specialized training in the forensic specialty. A Forensic Psychologist is a PhD with specialized forensic training. Both specialists may work with prisons, state hospitals, jails, prisons, or in private practice.
